Summary 2019

11th International Plasma Product Biotechnology Conference was held in Giardini Naxos, Sicily.

The Plasma Product Biotechnology Conference Series, now in it’s twentieth year, has established a reputation as the key international forum for the presentation and discussion of topics relevant to the plasma fractionation industry. Once again the meeting will provide a topical and stimulating program detailing the latest developments of importance to the industry. The sessions, compiled from submitted presentations, will cover the areas of manufacturing, quality, regulatory, pathogen safety, clinical development and technical innovations, and will chaired by recognised industry experts with broad plasma products experience and insight into their individual disciplines.

A key part of the meeting is to deliver an overview of strategic issues and highlight developing trends from industry leaders. This will be provided with the commencement keynote lecture from Dr Pieter de Geus, Member, Executive Board, Sanquin Blood Supply, The Netherlands.

There will also be a special focus on recent developments in the treatment of haemophilia, including gene therapy, by Professor John Pasi, Professor of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, UK.

As with past events, the meeting will encourage networking and discussion between participants by providing a relaxed and informal format. A key part of the meetings has always been the poster session and this tradition will continue in Sicily, providing a lively and highly interactive session.

If you work in or have an interest in plasma fractionation, through your work in a research institute, a government agency, a manufacturer, a supply company or consultancy, and are seeking to update your knowledge of the industry, or to learn, explore or disseminate new ideas and information, this is the event for you.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I invite you to the 11th Plasma Product Biotechnology Meeting and look forward to meeting you in Sicily in 2019.

Joseph Bertolini, Chairman, The Plasma Product Biotechnology Conference Series
